But they just look like regular underwear...

Happy Menstrual Hygiene Day!

_AN_6248.jpg

I’m not gonna lie, I had no idea that day existed until recently. And now that I have learned more about it, I think it is so important to share, chat about and break that giant taboo: P E R I O D S. Yep, I said it. Those bloody, awful sneaky bastards that remind you every month you are indeed, a woman.

I mean, of course, they aren’t all that bad. They are an essential part of creating life. Did you know they can even sync together with other women when you are living together? I learned this growing up with six sisters. Every year we went on vacation together, most of us synced up with the person on their period, it should have been illegal to have two periods that month, but come to think of it, that is pretty amazing! :)

Although, I grew up in a female power house, we rarely talked about periods. Now looking back, it is a bit strange we never did. It was just a “deal with it” type situation and of course “ask questions” if you ever feel comfortable enough. But it was never an open dialogue. It was just what ever way my mom taught me was right.

I am hoping to change that! To talk about things that we used to be afraid to talk and ask questions about.

Being in tune with our bodies is what makes us feel comfortable, confident and fiercely ourselves!

Finding and wearing ModiBodi has give me a sense of comfort and literally saved my sheets.

They’re made for women who respect their bodies on the inside as much as the impact they’re having on the outside! That means more freedom and flexibility at all times of the day (and month).

So what even are they? How are they different than regular underwear?

Trust me I was so skeptical at first…

Modibodi is underwear that are period proof, leak proof - and that can, depending on your preference and peace of mind, actually replace tampons & pads altogether.

Can I get a hallelujah?! Amen.

But…

How does it work exactly?

They use a Modifier Technology - made super-slim – only 3mm thick – it’s hard to believe they can hold up to 20ml or up to 4 tampons worth.

  • The top layer quickly wicks away moisture, fights bacteria and stops smells, so you stay dry and fresh

  • The middle layer safely absorbs fluid and locks it away (2.5-20mls depending on the flow you go with)

  • The bottom layer is extra waterproof protection, so you’re super secure and sassy as always

Lets just say: STYLE + COMFORT meets TECHNOLOGY.

So comfortable, I’m just gonna prop myself up here and enjoy my coffee…

Here we go.

Real Talk: The most annoying part about my period every month, is the beginning and the end. (I only use tampons and not pads.)

So…not only do I have to have cramps through out it, but on top of it, I have to constantly worry and check to make sure I don’t ruin my cute lacy underwear.….because I decided to just guess when I start and finish?!

Drum roll please….

With these ModiBodi underwear, I didn’t have to worry about spotting through my clothes or ruining underwear and I save wasted tampons at the end of my cycle. And not just spotting, I can literally wear them as protection. They are THAT secure. Some of these styles hold up to 4 tampons. They are made for this reason and are super easy to wash.

Honestly, ruining my sheets or underwear, has always been a once month shoulder shrug, “Oh well, that’s how it is.”

Not anymore! I will be strutting around my house, lookin’ cute, feelin safe.

Did I mention they also fight bacteria and moisture? So you are fresh as a daisy.

Am I the only one who is mind blown by this technology? This is incredible!

And remember, there is a bigger picture.

Not only will they fit into your morning coffee routine but us women, we are a voice for change! An echo for those who don’t have the education or live in a place that has no access to products or poor sanitation.

Poor menstrual hygiene, caused by a lack of education on the issue, persisting taboos and stigma, limited access to hygienic menstrual products and poor sanitation infrastructure, undermines the educational opportunities, health and overall social status of women and girls around the world. As a result, millions of women and girls are kept from reaching their full potential." - MenstrualHygieneDay.org
